Speyside Care Home
Speyside care home based in Aberlour previously used oil boilers for high heating and hot water demands.
Reason For switching to Biomass
To reduce carbon footprint and save money, estimated £16,000 annual oil bill. Constant heating and hot water demand at the care home.
The Solution;
Installed in 2016 a Biomass heating cabin. A fully automatic 220kW biomass system now provides heating and hot water for the care home. The system uses two 110kW boilers in cascade to provide the most efficient running times and provide back up.
Boiler, buffer and fuel store Located in a prefabricated cabin delivered to site complete and connected to the building with highly insulated underground pipe. R&I Cruden installed the cabin and the connection work into existing central heating system. Oil boilers continue as back up.
The Result;
Fuel cost saving up to 15%, RHI payments for 20 years
CO2 reduced, continuous heating and hot water.
